Real Estate:
On August 4, 2008 the parish purchased the ~5 acre "Smith Ranch" parcel on Rt 9 in Silverthorne, just south of Willowbrook, as the location for a new facility for Our Lady of Peace. Click on Smith Ranch parcel for property location detail.
We paid $1.5 million, using $750,000 in cash and borrowing $750,000 from the Archdiocese as an interim loan until we sell the Hammer Ranch property, which is no longer considered a viable building site for Our Lady of Peace (see Parish Master Plan for details.)
The ~25 acre Hammer Ranch property, acquired for $1.35 million in December 2005, was sold on September 18, 2009 for $1.575 million. The proceeds from this sale were be used to pay off the Smith Ranch loan and establish the initial funding for the building plan.
We now own the Smith Ranch, have no debt, and have over $500,000 in the Building Fund account!
Working with the firm of Eidos Architects, our Development Committee has created a master design plan for the new Our Lady of Peace facility, to be built on our new property in Silverthorne.
We have also developed plans to renovate the community and balcony areas of St Mary’s, providing better accommodation for overflow seating and social functions.
These plans are available to view either in YouTube video or .pdf slides, by clicking below.
Capital Campaign:
We have retained the services of the Cosgriff Company, a national development firm, to help us conduct a successful capital fund raising campaign for approximately $2.6 Million.
The Campaign will begin formally in January, but the faster we reach our goal, the sooner we can begin construction, potentially saving up to $1 million in costs!
Since the Parish Master Plan was published in April, 2008, the Development Committee has been actively engaged in implementing the vision defined in the Plan.
Results to date are summarized below, culminating in the launch of our Capital Campain.
