Religious Education for Elementary Grade Students

LIFT is the Religious Education program for children in Kindergarten - 5th grade.
- This includes sacramental prep for children who have yet to receive: Baptism, First Confession, and/or First Communion.
When does it meet?
St. Mary, Breckenridge Class Locations TBD
- -Tuesday afternoons during the school year from 4:30 to 5:30 pm
- -First Day- Tue., Sept. 20 / Last Day- Tue., May 1
Our Lady of Peace, Dillon Class Locations TBD
- -Wednesday afternoons during the school year from 4:30 to 5:30 pm
- -First Day- Wed., Sept. 21/ Last Day- Wed., May 2
When is registration?
- -Online & paper registration will be available beginning Thursday, September 1.
- -Children in preparation to receive sacraments in 2012 must be registered and attending weekly classes no later than October 11 and 12.
What is the format of the classes?
- -Each week all the children will gather in the Church to pray and listen to announcements, teachings, and selected readings.
- -The children will then split up into grade appropriate classes: K-1, 2-3, and 4-5
- -In these classes, the children will be guided through lessons by a pair of teachers
- -At Our Lady of Peace, Spanish speaking teachers will assist where needed.
What are the requirements for children wishing to receive sacraments in 2012?
- -Children are expected to maintain good attendance at the weekly classes, regular attendance at Sunday Mass, and meet curriculum goals (prayers, doctrine)
- -Throughout the year, children in need of sacramental preparation will attend special classes for preparation in place of their grade specific classes.

- -Families are asked to pay $20 per child, with a maximum of $50 per family.
Religious Education for Middle School Students

Catholic Club is the religious education program for all middle school students.
When does it meet?
- -Monday afternoons (early release) from 2:30 – 3:30 pm
- -First Day- Mon., Sept. 19 / Last Day- Mon., May 7
Where does it meet?
- -Catholic Club meets at the Parish Center 699 N. Summit Blvd. Suite J
When is registration?
- -Online & paper registration will be available beginning Thursday, September 1.
- -Parents may register when dropping off their youth on any Monday.
What is the format of the classes?
- -Each week all the youth will search out in their Bibles the upcoming Sunday’s readings and a short discussion on the themes will follow.
- -Following this, the youth leaders will prepare a topic/study that is relevant to adolescent life.

- -Families are asked to pay $20 per child, with a maximum of $50 per family
Religious Education for High School Students

FYI (Frassati Youth Initiative) is the youth group for high school students.
Who is Frassati?
- -Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati was a vibrant Italian youth who enjoyed skiing and mountaineering. He was beatified by JPII in 1990. He is an excellent patron for youth who live here in Summit County.
When does FYI meet?
- -Alternating Sundays from 6:30 – 8:00 pm
- -First Day- Sun., Sept. 18 / Last Day, Sun. May 6
Where does it meet?
- -FYI meets at the Parish Center 699 N. Summit Blvd. Suite J
When is registration?
- -Online & paper registration will be available beginning Thursday, September 1
- -Parents may register when dropping off their youth on any Sunday.
- -First timers and guests/friends are always welcome.
What is the format of the meetings?
- -Each meeting will begin with lighthearted games, videos, and prayer.
- -Youth will search out in their Bibles the next Sunday’s readings.
- -Following this, the youth leaders will prepare a topic/study that is relevant to high school life. The meetings will conclude with a time of prayer.
- -For youth who have already been confirmed, FYI will be a fun way to continue growing in your faith and experience fellowship with other teens.

Confirmation

High school students who are seeking to be Confirmed must:
- -Attend all FYI meetings and confirmation classes held the alternating Sundays from 6:30-8:00 pm starting with a mandatory meeting with one parent September 25 at 6:30 pm
- -Attend a confirmation retreat held on Feb. 4 and a field trip Mar. 23
- -Complete 10 documented and approved community service hours
Religious Education for Adults of All Ages
Intellectus (Latin for knowledge) is the Adult Religious Education program for those who live in Summit County.
When does Intellectus meet?
- -Wednesday nights from 6:30-8 pm
- -First day- Wed., Sept. 21 / Last Day- Wed., May 9
Where does it meet?
- -Intellectus meets at the Parish Center 699 N. Summit Blvd. Suite J
Who will teach the classes?
- -Each class will be taught by a different teacher on a rotating schedule.
- -Fr. Randy, Marcus Fresia, or Larry Hicks
What are the class topics?
- -Each instructor will present different topics and these topics will be listed each week in the bulletin and flyers throughout the church.
Is there a fee?
- -It is a free offering. However, fees may apply for additional supplies.
What about adults who wish to convert to Catholicism?
- It is encouraged for adults who are interested in becoming Catholic that they attend as many Intellectus classes as they can to learn about the faith.
- Additionally, Marcus Fresia and other catechists will be offering inquiry sessions throughout the fall that lead into more intensive classes on the faith, doctrine, and catechism.
