We at St. Mary † Our Lady of Peace want to express our sympathy at the loss of your loved one. While the death of a loved one is always difficult, our faith reminds us that our Lord is the God of all consolation! He comforts us in all our afflictions and enables us to comfort those who grieve with the same consolation we have received from him. We pray that our compassionate Lord will be with you in a special way during this time of grief.

When one of its members dies, the Church encourages the celebration of a Funeral Mass with the body present. At this liturgy, the community gives thanks to God for Christ’s victory over sin and death and commends the soul of the departed to the mercy of God. This can be a great source of solace for the grieving as well, as they gather with friends and family to commend the soul of their loved one to the care of our merciful God.
